Dr Chloe Herrick-Bourke

Clinical Psychologist; HCPC

I am a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist dedicated to supporting individuals in navigating life’s challenges and achieving emotional well-being. With experience in both NHS and private practice, I provide tailored, evidence-based interventions to help clients manage a range of psychological difficulties.

I understand that seeking therapy can feel like a daunting step, and I strive to create a warm, non-judgemental, and supportive environment where individuals feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. My approach is collaborative, ensuring that therapy is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

Areas of Expertise

I have experience working with a wide range of psychological concerns, including supporting individuals struggling with depression and anxiety, by helping them manage overwhelming emotions, intrusive thoughts, and mood fluctuations. Emotional regulation is another key area of my work, assisting clients in developing healthier ways to understand and express their emotions.

I also help individuals navigate significant life transitions and adjustments, such as career changes, unexpected events, health diagnoses, and relationship challenges. Using narrative therapy techniques, I support individuals in reshaping their personal stories to foster empowerment and positive change. Additionally, I work with parents and families, helping them navigate stress, improve communication, and strengthen their relationships.

My work extends to supporting neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism, providing tailored strategies to help them manage daily life, relationships, and self-acceptance. I also have experience working with individuals and families coping with life-changing neurological diagnoses such as Alzheimer’s. Furthermore, I assist those recovering from personal injuries, offering psychological support for trauma, pain management, and emotional adjustment.

Therapeutic Approaches

I integrate a range of evidence-based therapies to suit the unique needs of each client, including:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – Enhancing emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Identifying and modifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Encouraging mindfulness, self-acceptance, and values-based living.

  • Systemic Therapy – Addressing relational dynamics within families, couples, and social systems.

  • Behavioural Therapy – Implementing structured interventions to encourage positive behavioural change.

I take a compassionate, client-centred approach to therapy, tailoring each session to the individual and their personal journey. My aim is not to eliminate difficulties entirely but to help individuals develop the tools to manage them more effectively, enabling them to lead more fulfilling lives.

Professional Background & Qualifications

I have worked across a variety of clinical settings, gaining extensive experience in psychological assessment, intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration. I currently work within the NHS, specialising in neuropsychological assessments and interventions, supporting individuals and families adapting to neurological diagnoses such as Alzheimer’s and cognitive impairments. Alongside my NHS role, I work in private practice, specialising in psychological interventions for individuals who have experienced personal injury, including trauma, pain management, and emotional adjustment.
