Dr Anna Norris
Clinical Psychologist; HCPC; BPS
I am a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, chartered member, and associate fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS). With over 20 years of experience in both NHS and private practice, I have worked with individuals facing a broad range of psychological challenges. As the founder of Oak Grove Psychology, I also ensure that our entire team are dedicated to providing high-quality psychological support for adults across the UK.
Seeking therapy can be a significant step, and I aim to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients feel able to explore their thoughts and emotions. My approach is integrative and collaborative, ensuring that therapy is personalised and effective in addressing each individual's concerns.
Areas of Expertise
I have extensive experience in supporting individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, work-related stress, burnout, and trauma & PTSD. I also specialise in helping clients navigate relationship difficulties and significant life transitions.
In addition, I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD, providing tailored ADHD assessments and coaching to help them better understand and manage their experiences.
I believe that therapy should empower individuals to develop self-awareness, build resilience, and foster meaningful change in their lives. By working together, I support clients in gaining insight into their challenges, developing effective coping strategies, and moving towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Therapeutic Approaches
My practice is integrative, drawing upon a range of evidence-based therapies to suit each client’s unique needs. These include:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) – Cultivating self-compassion and reducing self-criticism.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Encouraging mindfulness and values-based living.
DBT-Informed Therapy – Helping to understand & regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and navigate relationships effectively.
Systemic Therapy – Understanding relational dynamics within families and social networks.
I recognise the importance of the therapeutic relationship in fostering a sense of trust and security. By tailoring therapy to each client’s needs and goals, I aim to provide a space for reflection, growth, and positive change.
Professional Background & Qualifications
I have worked in a variety of NHS services and settings, offering direct therapeutic support to individuals with longstanding mental health difficulties. In addition to providing therapy, I have extensive experience in consultation, supervision, and training for other professionals.
I am also qualified to provide ADHD assessments for adults, offering a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and support.
